## From JLC to In-House
Until 2000, AP held a 40 percent stake in Jaeger-LeCoultre, sourcing raw movements for the Caliber 2121 through that relationship. In 2002, that dependency ended for good — AP began producing the movement entirely in-house. That single shift is what turned the 15202 line into a true manufacture watch.
## The Big Overhaul for the Anniversary
In 2012, to mark the Royal Oak's 40th birthday, the reference got a full update: the Petite Tapisserie dial pattern made a comeback, the AP logo moved from 12 o'clock down to 6, and double indices were added at 12. Shortly after came the switch to the Grande Tapisserie pattern, along with a new double-folding clasp that replaced the old single-fold design.
## Three Pieces Instead of One
Starting around 2015, in the late I-series serial numbers, AP moved away from the monobloc case. The caseback was separated from the middle case, making the construction three-piece — marginally thicker, but far more efficient to produce.
## The End of a 50-Year Era
In January 2022, AP officially discontinued the 15202ST after a 22-year production run. Its successor, the 16202ST, arrived with the new Caliber 7121 — closing out the Caliber 2121's 50-year run as the Royal Oak's engine.
