At SIHH 2017, Audemars Piguet unveiled five new color variants of the Royal Oak Offshore Diver — the 15710ST.OO.A027CA.01 in blue and yellow was the loudest of the lineup from day one. The A027CA code designates blue as the primary color, with yellow accents that build directly on what had already worked in 2016 with the Offshore Diver Chronographs. Two matching rubber straps are included, interchangeable depending on your mood.
## Sapphire Crystal Caseback and 14.1 Millimeters: What Sets the 15710 Apart from the 15703
The move from the 15703ST to the 15710ST was no facelift. The case grew from 13.9 to 14.1 millimeters — noticeably so in hand — and the solid caseback gave way to a sapphire crystal. Calibre 3120 now sits fully on display, decorated to a standard AP typically reserves for its Haute Horlogerie pieces. The blue Méga Tapisserie dial and blue lacquered inner bezel complete a package that, at 42 millimeters across, carries more character than many watches at twice the price. By 2018, the 15710ST family had grown to eleven dial colors in total — with the blue and yellow combination remaining the most talked-about of the lot.
## 2021: The Successor Arrived with a New Calibre
Four years of production, then it was over. In 2021, the 15720ST.OO.A027CA.01 replaced the reference — same blue and yellow color scheme, but with the new Calibre 4308. On the pre-owned market, the 15710ST.OO.A027CA.01 is the clear choice for anyone who wants the 3120 behind a sapphire caseback, before AP redefined the formula.
