Serial numbers
- ? – ? (2012–2026) — Breitling does not publish serial number ranges. Serial number engraved on the caseback (not between the lugs). On LEs, additionally an individual piece number on the case flank (format '0345/2000' for the 2,000-piece LE, '0734/1000' for the 1,000-piece LE).
Breitling unveiled the AB0121 in Basel in March 2012 — as a strictly limited first run of 2,000 pieces in steel and just 200 pieces in rose gold (HB0121). What sets this Navitimer apart from every predecessor: for the first time, a proprietary caliber powers the case. The B01 is a fully in-house-developed chronograph movement with a 70-hour power reserve, visible through a sapphire caseback — itself a first in Navitimer history. Early production pieces from the debut year are identifiable by a red date window; the switch to black happened quietly, somewhere between 2013 and 2014, without any official word from Breitling.
## What the Panamerican 2014 Reveals About Collector Value
In 2014, Breitling introduced the first airline variant built on the AB0121: the Panamerican Limited Edition with a bronze dial, limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide. That release planted an idea that became a full philosophy under CEO Georges Kern in 2019. The Airline Capsule Collection — Pan Am, Swissair, and TWA, this time unlimited and featuring a Milanese mesh bracelet for the first time — brought the AB0121 DNA to a broader audience. The starkest illustration is the American Airlines edition from 2021: 100 pieces in total, divided between 25 on Milanese mesh at $9,350 and 75 on leather at $8,650. Anyone who comes across an early piece with the red date window today will pay a meaningful premium for it.

Breitling is known for aviation and dive watches. Chronographs (Navitimer, Chronomat) are the most frequently counterfeited. Pay close attention to slide rule details and COSC certification.

Serial number format: Breitling serial numbers: alphanumeric, located between the lugs at 6 o'clock. Format: one letter + 8 digits (e.g. 'AB012012'). Older models: digits only.
