## Panda Dial, New Reference: AB0158101A1A1

The Chronomat AB0158101A1A1 is the white Panda version from the MY26 generation, introduced in 2026 as the successor to the 2020 AB0134. Six years separate the two references — six years in which the B01 caliber stayed untouched, while the case changed almost everywhere else.

## From 15.1 to 13.77 Millimeters

The first generation launched in 2020 without a trade show presence — Baselworld and W&W were both cancelled due to the pandemic, so Breitling unveiled the B01 42 digitally instead. Back then, the bezel was built from 18 individual parts, and the case stood 15.1 millimeters tall. With the MY26 redesign, the height drops to 13.77 millimeters, the bezel is reduced to a single component, and the tachymeter disappears from the dial entirely. Altogether, Breitling is rolling out 22 new references across three model lines.

## Six Dial Variants, One Design

Alongside the white dial under AB0158-101A1, the same Panda look also comes as a Blue Panda under 101C1, a Green Panda under 101L1, and an Ice Blue Panda under the PB0158 reference. Rounding things out are two non-Panda versions: anthracite under UB0158 and brown under RB0158-101Q1. Six variants, one shared concept — carried through consistently across the entire line.

## What It Means for the Secondary Market

The outgoing AB0134 remains available on the pre-owned market, but it'll face pricing pressure once enough MY26 pieces are in circulation. For buyers of the AB0158101A1A1, one thing matters above all: the B01 caliber carried over unchanged between both generations, so the value gap comes down entirely to case and looks. Anyone chasing the 15.1-millimeter first-generation case is, at this point, buying a model on its way out.

Brand profile: Breitling

Breitling is known for aviation and dive watches. Chronographs (Navitimer, Chronomat) are the most frequently counterfeited. Pay close attention to slide rule details and COSC certification.

Key authenticity features
  • Wing logo: a genuine Breitling logo shows the anchor and wing tips that NEVER touch — precise negative space between them — fakes let the tips meet or overlap
  • 3D 'B' crown: the 'B' on the crown must appear three-dimensional with a light reflection on the curve — a flat 'B' = fake
  • Bezel scale vs. dial: the outer white bezel scale must align precisely with the inner black dial indices — fakes show misalignment
  • Date disc depth: a genuine Navitimer date disc sits flush with the dial plane — fakes show the date window as a 'crater' (noticeably sunken or raised)

Serial number format: Breitling serial numbers: alphanumeric, located between the lugs at 6 o'clock. Format: one letter + 8 digits (e.g. 'AB012012'). Older models: digits only.

Buying guide: Breitling Chronomat

Entry into Breitling

At $8,304 this reference is one of the more affordable ways to wear a Breitling on your wrist. That is precisely why many pieces have already passed through several hands — condition varies accordingly. Buyers here should pay particular attention to service history and honest photos from the seller.

Where the price stands

The price has fallen by -9.6% over the past four months. No crash, but a clear downward trend. Buyers currently have room to negotiate; sellers are better off waiting for the market to bottom out — unless they have to sell.

Watch out for swings: This reference has an above-average volatility of 41.2 percent. In concrete terms: the price can move by several hundred euros within a few weeks. Check the current value before buying or selling — old listings or auction results from two months ago are of little help.

What to look out for when buying?

  • Authenticity: The serial number and reference on the case must match the papers. A professional authenticity check of the Breitling Chronomat reliably rules out counterfeits.
  • Condition: Check scratches on the case and bezel — professional refurbishment can leave traces.
  • Service history: A documented service by the manufacturer or a certified watchmaker increases the value.
  • Scope of delivery: Box, papers and warranty card make a noticeable price difference on the Chronomat.
  • Independent certification: The CPS-52 standard covers 52 checkpoints — from the serial number and the timing machine to water resistance. The result is secured on the blockchain and can be verified at any time.

What should I look out for when buying a Breitling Chronomat?
The key things to check when buying a Breitling Chronomat are: 1) that the serial number and reference match the papers, 2) the condition of the case and bezel (scratches, signs of polishing), 3) completeness of box and warranty card (a 10–15 % price premium for a full set), 4) a documented service history, 5) an independent authenticity check — advisable from a purchase price of 5,000 EUR.
How do I tell whether a Breitling Chronomat is genuine?
With a Breitling, counterfeits can usually be spotted from several details: the weight and material quality of the case, the precise execution of the bezel and dial, correctly engraved serial numbers at the prescribed depth, and the behaviour of the movement. A forensic authenticity check to the CPS-52 standard examines 52 individual points and is the most reliable method — especially for purchases over 10,000 EUR.

There are several channels for selling a Breitling Chronomat: 1) specialist online dealers (Chrono24, Watchfinder, Wempe, Chronext) — fast, but with a 10–20 % margin deduction, 2) auction houses (Phillips, Christie's, Sotheby's) — higher proceeds possible, takes 3–6 months, 3) private sale (classifieds, WatchUSeek) — highest proceeds, but more effort and fraud risk. In our experience a ChronoCheck valuation report raises the achieved sale price by 5–10 %.
