- 940000 – 1200000 (1998–2003) — Late phase including the Vitesse variant. From approx. serial number >1,000,000, overlap begins with the date stamps introduced from 2003 onwards (WW/YY between the lugs). B13050.1 production had largely ceased by this point.
The Breitling Chronomat B13050.1 launched in 1997 under a single reference number, but with two completely different faces. On one side, the GT version with classic baton indices; on the other, the Vitesse with italic Arabic numerals. Both variants share the caliber B13 and the same case base — only the dial language sets them apart.
## Vitesse Is a Dealer Name, Not a Breitling Term
Anyone shopping for the Chronomat Vitesse is chasing a name Breitling never used in a single catalog across the B13050 series. The term comes from collector slang, echoing the brand's historic racing stopwatches. Whether it carries a baton or Vitesse dial, the reference stays the same: A13050 or B13050.1.
## 2001: The Evolution Takes Over
After four years, the B13050.1 gave way to the Chronomat Evolution, listed under A13356 and B13356. The new model kept the caliber B13 but stepped up to a noticeably larger case. Dealers kept selling off remaining stock of the old reference until around 2003, after which the B13050.1 dropped off the price lists.
## Dials and the Gold Rider Bezel
Four dial variants define this market: GT Black, GT Blue, Vitesse White/Silver, and GT Blue Gold. Then there's the Gold Rider Tab Bezel, a unidirectional 60-minute bezel with gilt tabs on an aluminum insert. Find a two-tone model wearing exactly that bezel, and you're likely holding one of the more sought-after combinations in the B13050 series.
