The IW327015 is the bracelet version of the Mark XVIII — steel case, 40 mm diameter, caliber 35111. That last point ran as an argument against IWC for years in pilot-watch circles, given that the movement is based on a Sellita base. The conversation has since shifted: now that the Mark XX took over the line in 2022, the Mark XVIII has come to be seen as the last true expression of the classic Mark formula — no marketing premium attached.
## The Model Change That Reshuffled the Pre-Owned Market
In 2022, IWC launched the IW328001 series with the in-house caliber 32111, a 120-hour power reserve, the EasX-Change quick-swap system, and water resistance of 10 bar instead of 6. List prices moved up roughly 10 percent in the process. For the IW327015 pre-owned market, that had two effects: examples that had been trading just under retail found a more stable floor, and buyers who prefer the cleaner, system-free concept now have a clearly defined alternative to reach for.
## What Sets the Bracelet Version Apart from the Rest of the Line
Within the Mark XVIII family, the IW327015 carried the highest new retail price, which means it surfaces on the secondary market less often than the leather-strap variants. The steel bracelet suits the no-nonsense tool-watch character of the reference: caliber 35111 runs without complications and makes no apologies for it. It is a dependable automatic that any competent watchmaker will take in without a second thought — and one that delivers exactly what the Mark line has stood for over decades.

IWC Schaffhausen produces high-quality pilot and sports watches. The Portugieser, Pilot's Watch (Big Pilot + Mark XVIII/XX), and Portofino are the most frequently faked references. Since 2025, APS Factory V3 has produced integrated 52010 super-clones with correct case thickness — classic tells (case thickness, movement visibility) are only partially reliable against these. Key checks today: engraving depth, seconds tick interval, thermally blued hand color, and sub-dial proportions.

- Portugieser sub-dial seconds intervals: a GENUINE piece has exactly 3 mini-ticks between each seconds index (high beat rate of 28,800 vph) — fakes have 4 or irregular ticks (lower beat rate).
- Caseback engraving 'International Watch Company': genuine engraving is DEEP (perceptible with a fingernail) and sharp-edged — fakes are shallower, sometimes just laser-printed rather than truly engraved. Test: raking light and a loupe.
- Portugieser/Portofino blue hand color: thermally blued steel shifts from deep blue to light violet depending on viewing angle — painted fake hands show a flat, uniform blue.
