## The case grew by a millimeter, the pushers nod to 1960s cockpits
At SIHH 2011, the IW391010 debuted as the reworked centerpiece of the Portofino collection. IWC grew the case from 41 to 42 millimeters and simultaneously swapped the movement: the ETA-based Cal. 79320 gave way to Sellita's Cal. 75320. Among collectors, the change briefly stirred debate — in everyday use it makes no difference whatsoever. The mushroom-shaped pushers, inspired by sports-car cockpits of the 1960s, are the detail that genuinely stays with you.
## Why the Milanese bracelet here was no accident
With the IW391010, IWC introduced the Milanese mesh as the signature bracelet of the entire Portofino line. Black dial, fixed stainless-steel bezel — the combination looks just as cohesive in 2026 as it did at launch. The pre-owned market reflects that: well-kept examples today sit mostly between 3,500 and 5,000 euros, comfortably below the successor references IW391030 and IW391031, which took over production in 2020. Anyone searching for the classic Portofino Chronograph while saving around 30 percent against current retail cannot overlook the IW391010.
