The PAM00973 has carried a name that shifted over the years since its introduction. Until 2021, it was officially listed as the "Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic 42mm" — with all the heritage that designation implies. Then Panerai split the Submersible collection entirely from the Luminor line: "1950" was dropped, "3 Days" disappeared from the catalog, and the model has since been known simply as the "Submersible 42mm." Collectors searching for PAM973, Sub 42, or Luminor Sub 1950 42 are all talking about the same watch — the reference number and movement were left untouched by the rename.
