The Rolex Submariner 116613LB — known in the trade simply as the "Bluesy" — debuted at Baselworld 2009 as the successor to the Ref. 16613. Rolex swapped the aluminum bezel for Cerachrom ceramic and replaced acrylic crystal with sapphire. The case grew into the Maxi-Case format with broader lugs and Solid End Links. The flat, matte-blue dial was no accident — it was tuned to match the Cerachrom tone of the bezel. Caliber 3135 drove the movement, and the Glidelock clasp allowed 0.5 mm of fine adjustment on the bracelet without tools.
## 2013: A Dial That Consistently Divides Collectors
Four years after launch, Rolex revised the dial at Baselworld 2013. The flat blue gave way to a sunburst-blue lacquer with Chromalight luminescent material, listed on WatchBase as the distinct variant 116613lb-0005. Caliber and case remained unchanged; the update was purely cosmetic. But collectors have consistently separated the two generations ever since, paying corresponding grey-market premiums for early flat-blue examples.
## 11 Years in Production, Then the Cut
In 2020 the 116613LB was discontinued at Watches & Wonders. The successor 126613LB brought 41 mm instead of 40, the new Caliber 3235 with a 70-hour power reserve — Cal. 3135 managed 48 h — and white rather than gold-toned dial printing. Anyone holding a well-kept example of the 116613LB holds a closed vintage, produced from 2009 to 2020. No further supply.

Rolex is the most counterfeited watch brand in the world. Super-clones (VSF, ARF, Clean — the latter inactive since the 07/2025 raid, with only old stock still circulating) reach 95%+ similarity. Authenticity can almost always only be identified through micro-details and caliber behavior.
