In 1999, Rolex introduced Reference 169623 as the first compact ladies' iteration of the Yacht-Master line: 29 mm stainless steel case, 18-carat yellow gold bezel, bidirectionally rotatable with a 60-minute graduation. Caliber 2235 fit cleanly into the compact case, and sapphire crystal was standard from the outset. Before discontinuation in 2005, five dial variants were produced: White, Blue, Champagne, and Grey with index dots — along with the Black Mother-of-Pearl edition featuring genuine mother-of-pearl.
## The Brief Production Window as a Market Argument
Six production years, then discontinuation. The 116622/126622 successors carried the two-tone formula forward in different proportions, but Rolex has never revisited the 29 mm concept with a yellow gold bezel. In collector circles, the 169623 goes by "Lady Yacht-Master Mini" — no follow-on model, no current equivalent, which keeps demand consistently firm. One thing buyers should know: the 169623 belongs to the generation of references without a rehaut engraving; Rolex only introduced the serial-number stamp on the inner ring with successor series from 2005 onward.
