Zenith is a Swiss luxury watch brand in the upper segment (3.000–50.000+ EUR), best known for the legendary El Primero caliber. The most commonly counterfeited pieces are El Primero chronographs and Defy models. Fakes range from cheap quartz variants to super clones built on modified Valjoux movements.
Serial number format: Modern Zenith serial numbers are alphanumeric (e.g. A12345678) and are located between the lugs at 6 o'clock on the caseback, engraved with machine precision. Older models carry numeric-only serials. The reference number appears separately on the caseback or papers in the format XX.XXXX.XXX.
At $43,491 the watch sells well if the condition is right. A market rule of thumb: a complete set with box, papers and warranty card brings 10 to 15 percent more than the bare watch. Buying without papers can pay off, but you take the same discount again later when you resell.
