With reference 277200, Rolex launches the successor to the 177200 in September 2020, fitted with the caliber 2232 and a Syloxi hairspring. Seven new high-gloss lacquer dial colors accompany the launch, and it's the turquoise 277200-0007 that immediately becomes the talk of the town: collectors dub it "Tiffany Blue," and the secondary market responds with a noticeable premium. Among enthusiasts, the 31mm Oyster Perpetual has long since earned the nickname "OP 31" — no surprise for a reference that now boasts twelve documented dial variants, ranging from silver to Candy Pink to green.
## 2023 Brings the First Pattern Dial
Three years after its debut, Rolex adds a Celebration dial with the 277200-0010: multicolored circles on a dark background, the reference's very first pattern-dial variant. Collectors just as often call it the "Rainbow Dial," though its official name is Celebration. The pairing of the fixed smooth domed steel bezel with this dial remains a distinct collecting niche within the 277200 family to this day.
## 2025 and 2026: From High-Gloss to Matte, and On to a Jubilee Motif
At Watches & Wonders 2025, Rolex turns its back on the glossy Stella look and introduces three matte lacquer dials: Lavender, Beige, and Pistachio, the first to feature a matte rather than polished finish. A year later, in 2026, marking the 100th anniversary of the Oyster case, comes a Jubilee-motif dial with a multicolor pattern in a 1970s style. Twelve dial codes and six years of development show just how much variation Rolex is willing to give a single reference.
Brand profile: Rolex
Rolex is the most counterfeited watch brand in the world. Super-clones (VSF, ARF, Clean — the latter inactive since the 07/2025 raid, with only old stock still circulating) reach 95%+ similarity. Authenticity can almost always only be identified through micro-details and caliber behavior.

Serial number format: Since 2010, a random alphanumeric combination (e.g. 'G3M9K721'). 2000-2010: a letter plus 6-7 digits. Serial number engraved on the rehaut at 6 o'clock (from ~2005). Older models: between the lug shoulders at 6 o'clock on the case.
