When people talk about the Rolex Sky-Dweller reference 336934, they're really talking about two different watches. The first was the 326934, on the market since 2012. The second arrived in 2023, and at first glance looks nearly identical — but it's beating with an entirely new heart. Caliber 9002 replaces the 9001, with the same 72-hour power reserve and the same frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The difference lies in the Chronergy escapement, made from nickel-phosphorus, which makes the movement significantly more resistant to magnetic fields while also running more efficiently. Rolex used the occasion to introduce the double-crown logo at 6 o'clock, drop the SWISS MADE lettering, and update the engraving on the rehaut.
## Eight Dials, One New Shade
The reference 336934 comes in eight dial variations — four colors, each available on an Oyster or Jubilee bracelet: white, blue, black, and, new as of 2023, Mint Green. That Mint Green is really the reason collectors are talking about this reference again. All eight variants feature Chromalight indices, which comes in handy on a reference with a Ring Command bezel and annual calendar complication, especially when you're resetting the time zone in the dark mid-trip.
## What Actually Matters on the Wrist
In practice, the 336934 goes by several names. White Rolesor Sky-Dweller, when customers mean the steel-and-white-gold case. Ring Command Sky-Dweller, when the conversation turns to the rotating 18-karat white gold bezel with the numeral display used to set the date and time zone. Annual Calendar Rolex, when someone's simply looking for the complication without knowing the model name. That exact mix-up between the 326934 and the 336934 is the first thing I check when buying. If you're looking at a Sky-Dweller from 2023 or later, verify the caliber via the rehaut and the double-crown logo — never go by the dial alone.
